Billy James Swaringam, Sr., of New Franklin, died September 11, 2016 the result of an automobile accident near New Franklin.
Billy was born August 29, 1940 in Ironton, Missouri to the late Alfred James and Wandarine Swaringam. He had had been employed with Union Pacific Railroad, Walker-Green Construction and Swift Trucking Company. He was a member of Faith Family Church in Fayette and loved playing his musical instruments and performing at area nursing homes.
Survivors include his sons, Billy James Jr., Andrew, Timmy and Vincent Swaringam and his daughters, Christina Doyle, Valerie Swaringam, Shelia Huggins, Jackie Marlor and Misty Swaringam. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Dustin Hale, Olivia Hale, Adrian Swaringam, Chrissy Gibbons and Patrick Gibbons and his great-grandchild, Willow Hale. Billy was one of thirteen children; his surviving siblings include his sisters, Mary, Wanda, Ruth, Betty, Tina and Carol Sue and brothers, Pete, David, Johnny Paul and Harold Lee.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Gene Swaringam and a sister, Lee Coldwele and a grandson, Jarrred Bassett.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 16, at Faith Family Church in Fayette. Honoring his service in the U.S. Army, burial with military honors will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, Missouri.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, September 15 at Markland-Yager Funeral Home in New Franklin.
