Derek Keith Barney, of Fayette, passed away at his home October 11, 2016.

He was born February 16, 1980 in Columbia.  Derek graduated from Fayette High School in 1998.  He took special pride in his business D & D Lawn Care and was also employed with the Braun Home in Fayette.  He loved spending time with his family and friends as well as farming, hunting and fishing.

He married Jessica Copeland Barney on November 15, 2003.

Survivors include his parents, Jerry Adams, Jr. and Sharon Adams of Armstrong; three sons, Dalton Keith Barney of Armstrong, Marcus Layne Severns of New Franklin and Denver Nation of Armstrong; a daughter, Londyn Cheyenne Barney of Glasgow; two brothers, Anthony Adams of Armstrong and Jeromy Barney of Fayette; two sisters, Tedra Barney of Salisbury and Devon Barney of Fayette; his grandfathers, Clarence Felten, Jr. of Fayette and Jerry Adams of Armstrong and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Shirley Felten and Carolyn Ruth Polson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Carr-Yager Funeral Home in Fayette.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Interment will be at the Fayette City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Derek Barney Children’s Fund at Commercial Trust Bank.
