Dolores “Sis” Swain Dodson

1917 – 2016

Sis Dodson, of New Franklin, passed away Thursday, June 30, 2016 at Cooper County Memorial Hospital in Boonville.  She was 99 years old.

Sis was born February 28, 1917 in Defiance, Missouri a daughter of Henry and Elsie Riske Schneider.  She married Jacob (Jake) Swain on September 25, 1937.  He preceded her in death on May 4, 1989.  In October 1999, she married William (Bill) Dodson.  He also preceded her in death March 21, 2004.

Sis lived in New Franklin, Missouri for over 70 years.  She was a charter member of the Silver Liners Senior Center, a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in New Franklin; Past Worthy Matron of New Franklin Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and Past District Deputy Grand Matron of the 25^th District.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Jeanie Swain of Sedalia, Missouri; daughter and son-in-law, Jolene and Harold Hackman of Columbia; four grandchildren and spouses, Rev’s Todd and Heide Hackman of Belleville, Wisconsin; Scott and Julie Swain of Columbia; Tracy and Chris Bach of Columbia and Stacey and Mike Thomas of Kansas City, Missouri; eight great-grandchildren, Mary Cate, Jake, John and Michal Swain; Pierce Thomas, Jacob and Matthew Hackman and Payton and Riley Bach.

Her parents, two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 4, 2016 at Immanuel United Church of Christ in New Franklin.  Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in New Franklin.

Visitation will be Sunday evening, July 3, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Markland-Yager Funeral Home in New Franklin.
