Garland Dale Noland

1949-2018

Garland Dale Noland, 68, of Columbia, passed away Saturday, February 3, 2018 at University Hospital and Clinics in Columbia.  Garland was born in Fayette, Missouri on April 30, 1949 to the late James R. and Emma L. Rogers Noland.

He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1969 – 1971.  He was stationed in Germany and worked in the motor pool.

He married Barbara Faye Walker on April 29, 1970.  She preceded him in death in 2001.  To this union one daughter and two sons were born.  Garland later married Terri Sue Klobnak and to this union a daughter was born.

Garland loved traditional country music, 1969-1972 Chevrolet pickups, he enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting and working on and fixing lawn mowers.  He was employed as a tow truck operator, sign painter and mechanic.  He worked for the University of Missouri in Columbia for over 25 years in the sign shop until his retirement in 2014.

Survivors include  two daughters, Christina Adele Walker of Columbia, Jessica Leann Noland of Boonville; two sons, Garland Daniel Noland of Pasadena, Texas and Gerald Duane Noland (Kelli) of Hallsville, Missouri; four brothers, Irvin Noland (Janet) of Fayette, Everette Noland (Marion) of St. Peters, Stanley Noland (Diane) of Clark and Terry Noland of Columbia; four sisters, Retha Nichols (Otis “Nick”) of Fayette, Ruth Cramer (David) of Boonville, Lois Souders of Fayette and Bethel Thompson (Charles) of New Franklin. Also surviving are several grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Harold Ray Noland and a sister, Marilyn Jean Mattos.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, February 8, 2018 at Carr-Yager Funeral Home in Fayette with Rev. Harold Young officiating.  Visitation will be Thursday from noon until service time at the funeral home.  Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Christian Church Cemetery in rural Fayette.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Lung Association or Mt. Pleasant Christian Church Cemetery.
