Hazel Irene Dungan Purvis, of New Franklin, passed away Friday, October 7, 2016 at Katy Manor in Pilot Grove.  She was 86 years old.

She was born September 11, 1930, to the late Herbert E. and Ruth E. Shadwick Dungan.  On June 2, 1950 she married Morris “Shorty” Purvis at the Lake of the Ozarks.  He preceded her in death September 18, 2014.

Mrs. Purvis was a member of the Friendship Foursquare Church in New Franklin and the American Legion Auxiliary.

She worked in the Boonville area her whole life starting at Selwynn Shoe Factory, Holt’s Café, John Green Department Store, Bimet Manufacturing Company and Laidlaw Bus Company.

Survivors include two daughters, Sue Coy and husband, Stan and Debbie Barroso all of New Franklin; a son, Jeffrey Purvis and wife, Tammy of Boonville; five grandchildren, Kori Coy, Timothy Chamberlain, Stephanie Richards, Brandy Maier and Kyle Purvis and six great-grand sons.  Also surviving is a sister, Doris Kaiser of Excelsior Springs, MO and a brother, Dale Dungan of Stover, MO and several nieces and nephews and their families.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by seven brothers, Jack, Ralph, Truman, Bill, Frank, Roger and Herbert Dungan and by four sisters, Mildred Dungan, Peggy Bullard, Ruth Thompson and Betty Cundiff.  She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua Joseph Coy.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, October 12, at Markland-Yager Funeral Home, 3855 Hwy. 5 North, New Franklin, MO.  Visitation will be from 12 p.m., Wednesday until time of service at the funeral home.

Burial will follow services at Clarks Chapel Cemetery, Franklin, MO.
