My wife is a fiddler and I am a square dance caller. We met John when we attended and participated at the Hallsville square dance in October 2012.

We had met Howard Marshall on a previous trip and he introduced to John at the dance.

He seemed like a very nice man who really enjoyed his fiddling and square dancing. Sandy enjoyed fiddling with the group that evening as she was made to feel very welcome by John and the others there.. We have fond memories of John and the night at Hallsville.

We extend our sympathies to the family.

We are so sorry for your loss. We grew up with John in Clarence and knew him to be an intelligent, caring, hard-working, talented, unpretentious, and loyal individual. It was always a joy to see him at class reunions and hear was interesting things he had been doing since the last one. We pray that God will bless his soul and give his family and friends a measure of peace and comfort.

Betty and Family - I am so sorry for your loss. I met John several years ago in search of possible fiddle recordings of my Grandfather - Cecil Windsor. John was quite generous and met me and talked with me for quite some time. I attended a few of the Hallsville Square dances and he was a treat to all who knew him.
