Linda Holem

1929 - 2016

Linda Holem, 86, of New Franklin, passed away at her home on May 3, 2016.  She was born Theolinde Wurfbaum in Englestadt, Germany on September 28, 1929 a daughter of Otto and Maria Wurfbaum.

She came to the U.S. in 1948 a war bride to Joseph Holem who preceded her in death December 26, 2015.

Mrs. Holem worked as head cook for 25 years with the New Franklin Schools, a job she loved.   She was a cook that many children adored and fondly remembered for many generations.

She was also an avid New Franklin sports fan.

Linda Holem was the mother of the late Melanie Spencer and Diane Hazlett.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jolene and Bill Dority; her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Lan Tu Holem; her sons-in-law, Rick Hazlett and Tom Spencer; her grandsons, Tom and Brian Hazlett and their respective spouses, Mary and Tina; Joe Dority, Tony Spencer, Ryan Holem and Alex Holem; her grand-daughters, Becky White and Amy Dority and their respective spouses, Scott White and Sean Matney and last, but not least, 16 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Markland-Yager Funeral Home in New Franklin.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 6, 2016 11:00 a.m. at Clarks Chapel Church on Hwy. 87 in Franklin, MO with Rev. Ryan Lyons officiating.

Interment will follow at Clarks Chapel Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family humbly requests memorials to the New Franklin High School Athletic Department.
