Robert (Bob) Sisson, 103, of Columbia passed away on September 2, 2016.
A private family memorial service will be held in the spring to remember his long life.
Robert was born August 16, 1913 in Columbia to Stanley and Mary Doria Dyer Sisson. Robert graduated from Hickman High School on May 29, 1930. He married Margaret Louise Hutchins on September 12, 1936, in Columbia and she preceded him in death on June 20, 2005. He was a member of First Christian Church of Columbia and the AARP. During his time with the Boy Scouts, he was awarded the Silver Beaver Award, one of their highest awards. Bob retired from the U.S. Post Office and then worked for First National Bank (Landmark) finally retiring when he was 82 years of age. He was active in fighting for the implementation of the minimum wage in Columbia during the 1930’s.
He is survived by four sons, Robert H. Sisson (Del) of Charleston, SC, Sam Sisson (Cindy) of Evanston, WY, Thomas Sisson (Marsha) of Columbia, Gerald Sisson (Sally) of Parker, CO; one sister, Mary Lloyd; eight grandchildren, Leah, Heidi, Jon, Erin, Joey, Harley, Monique, Troy and three great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, John (Jack) Edward Sisson and three sisters, Dorothy Redmon, Betty Ann Reynolds and Medora LaGrande.
