Surrounded by family at her home, Ruth passed from this world into God’s home on August 1, 2016.  She was 84 years old.

Ruth was born on November 24, 1931 near Sweet Springs, Missouri to Ed and Hettie Dittmer. 

After graduating from Sweet Springs High School in 1949, she went to work for Farmers Hail Insurance Company in Columbia, MO. 

On August 14, 1955 she married J.R. (Bud) Schumacher. After Bud graduated from the University of Missouri in 1958, she became a stay-at-home Mom.  They lived on a farm and Ruth enjoyed providing for her family with a large garden and orchard, canning and freezing the fruits of her labor.

In 1976, Ruth and Bud purchased an insurance agency in Fayette, Missouri, and later the Meyer Agency in Glasgow. They also purchased the Cox Agency in Salisbury and the Selck Agency in Boonville.  Ruth worked in the Agency as an agent, accountant, office manager and janitor, until they retired in 1999.

She is survived by her husband, Bud, daughter Julann (Ernie) Eschrich, son, Joe Schumacher, daughter Jan (Cla) Stearns and grandchildren Zac and Becca Stearns, brothers Robert and Melvin Dittmer, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Paul, Loren, and Clark Dittmer.

Ruth requested a private funeral and burial which was held August 3, 2016. Arrangements were provided by Bach-Yager funeral home in Columbia Missouri with internment at Memorial Park.

Spiritual and academic educations were very important to Ruth. Memorial contributions for scholarships can be made to First Christian Church, 301 4th St, Boonville, MO 65233.
