Dixie Sell Obituary

Mescal “Dixie” Sell

1929 – 2019

Mescal “Dixie” Sell, 89, of Boonville, Missouri, passed away March 6, 2019 at Pinnacle Regional Hospital in Boonville.

Mrs. Sell was born in Noble, Missouri on May 11, 1929 a daughter of Hardy and Martha Dunnegan Frazier.  She married Gerald Vivian Sell in St. Charles, MO on September 8, 1950.  Gerald preceded her in death on July 1, 2018 after sixty-seven years of marriage.

Dixie was born and raised in Noble, Missouri and had worked for General Electric and the Veteran’s Administration for many years.  Gerald and Dixie were members of the Boonville Church of Christ.  She was always willing to help others in need and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She enjoyed cooking, canning and baking cobblers and pies.  I was a sure thing that you never left her house hungry or without a jar of jelly or apple butter.  During their retirement Gerald and Dixie enjoyed traveling in their airstream trailer.

Survivors include a son, Vaughn (Carolyn) Sell of Boonville; three daughters, Jerri (Floyd) McNair of Sun City West, Arizona, Susie (Tony) Roberts of Columbia and Donna Sell of Costa Mesa, California; a brother, Jeff Frazier of Noble, Missouri; eleven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Dixie was preceded in death by two sons, Steve and Danny Sell; three brothers, Lee, Lowell and infant brother, Robert and five sisters, Alma, Vergie, Dora, Floy and Eldra.

Services honoring Dixie’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 11, 2019 at the Boonville Church of Christ, 16511 Logan’s Lake Road, Boonville, Missouri.  Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Markland-Yager Funeral Home, 3855 Hwy. 5, New Franklin, Missouri.

Interment will be Monday afternoon at Lower Muddy Cemetery in Lerna, Illinois.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Lower Muddy Cemetery.
