Harry Thomas Filinuk

1938 -2019

Harry Thomas Filinuk, 80, of Moscow Mills, Missouri formerly of Fayette, Missouri and Brown’s Mills, New Jersey passed away at his home on August 17, 2019.

Harry was born November 17, 1938 in Camden, New Jersey a son of the late Harry and Mary Degemas Filinuk.  He married Victoria Giorgi in September 1961 in New Jersey.  Victoria preceded him in death February 7, 2015.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran, a life-long Catholic and retired from the New Jersey Department of Corrections and was a member of the Policeman Benevolence Association.  His family remembers his as a big man with a big heart.  He enjoyed cooking making sure everyone was well fed.  Harry had a good sense of humor and enjoyed flirting and playing pranks on others.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and working with his hands.

Harry is survived by a daughter, Mary Groveman of Moscow Mills; two sons, Harry Filinuk, Jr. and William Filinuk both of New Jersey; a brother, Joseph of New Jersey and two grandchildren, Meloni Holman and Aaron Groveman.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Charles Wellman and an infant brother.

Services honoring Harry’s life will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, August 22, 2019 at Carr-Yager Funeral Home in Fayette with Father Bill Peckman officiating.  Military honors will follow the chapel service.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Fayette PAWS’s Program.
