1933 – 2019

Carmel “Irene” Bledsoe, 86, of New Franklin passed away October 12, 2019 at Ashley Manor in Boonville.

Irene was born in Tick Ridge, MO on August 30, 1933 a daughter of the late John C. and Lola Mae Jackson Bledsoe.  She attended the First Christian Church in Boonville and had been a member of the New Franklin Christian Church.  She graduated from New Franklin High School in 1951.  Irene was employed at Boben Manufacturing Company in Boonville for over 45 years until her retirement in 1995.

Irene loved and was loved by her family.  She was like a second mother to her nieces and nephews and was very generous and loving to them.  They remember her as having a servant’s heart always putting others first and looking out for them.  She could always be counted on to bring her pecan pies to family functions.

Survivors include a sister, Nora Dockins of New Franklin; three nephews, Terry Dockins, Larry and Lonnie Duncan; niece, Marva Dockins-Sartwell and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, William Bledsoe, Melvin Dobson and Larry Bledsoe; a sister, Betty Duncan and two nephews, Michael and Rodney Dobson.

Funeral services honoring Irene’s life will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, October 17 at Markland-Yager Funeral Home in New Franklin with Rev. Roger McMurry officiating.  Burial will follow at Old Lamine Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
