Clarence Eugene Jett, 88, of Columbia passed away on Thursday, July 8, 2021 at Boone Hospital Center.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00p.m., Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at Bach-Yager Funeral Chapel with Elder John Anderson officiating. Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until time for the service. Burial will follow the service at Columbia Cemetery.
Clarence was born October 16, 1932, in Belle, Missouri, the son of Ray and Ada Jaeger Jett and they preceded him in death. He was a graduate of Belle High School and then served in the Coast Guard from 1951 – 1954. He received his Bachelors degree from the University of Missouri in 1958. He worked for Boeing in Seattle from 1959 -1960 and returned to the University in the Fall of 1960. Clarence was employed with MFA Incorporated from 1961 – 1969. He received his Masters Degree in Accounting from the University in 1969 and worked for the Vet School until 1972 at which time he started his own accounting practice. He received his CPA certification 1981. On October 17, 1981, he married Marilynn Dirksmeyer. He was with the University Auditing for 12 years. In 2000 he started his own accounting firm, Clarence E. Jett, CPA and was in business until 2020. He enjoyed the accounting business and spending time with his clients. He also enjoyed traveling with Marilynn, gardening and spending time with the grandchildren.
Clarence is survived by his wife, Marilynn and their three children, Marla Kay Martin of Pacific Grove, CA, Stephanie Ann Dirksmeyer and Chris Dirksmeyer (Michelle) all of Columbia; sister, Edna Brown of Belle; six grandchildren, Ryan Ghazaeri of Ann Arbor, MI, Riley Ghazaeri of Modesto, CA, Dustin Hansen (Elana) of Rockland, CA, Houston Hansen of Monterey, CA, Alexia Martin of Pacific Grove, CA and Eric Dirksmeyer of Columbia; two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Clarence was also preceded in death by a daughter, Leta Renee Morgan.
