Donald Charles (Chuck) Malin, 71, of Columbia Missouri passed away on August 3, 2020. He was born on August 6, 1948, in Caruthersville Missouri, to Donald Reginald and Virginia Mae (Casillo) Malin. After graduating from Caruthersville High School in 1967 he enlisted in the Navy where he was an aircraft mechanic. After being honorably discharged in 1970 he continued working as a mechanic until accepting a position with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Throughout his tenure with the Corps he was honored many times for his exemplary work on various projects including disaster recovery after the Columbia space shuttle explosion and hurricane Katrina. Chuck was Stevie Ray Vaughn’s biggest fan, had a story for everything, and could make even the most stoic person belly laugh at his jokes.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sandra, brothers Robert and Tony, sisters Jacqueline (Randle Sr.) and Carolyn (Jerry) daughter Regina (Charles) Points, stepson Steven Ross, six grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Chuck is preceded in death by his mother and father, and stepson James Ross.
A memorial service will be held on September 26, 2020 at Cole Moma’s Restaurant located at 2521 State Hwy D, Caruthersville Missouri from 11A.M. to 3 P.M.
