Eugene Kenneth Buchholz PhD, 89, a resident of Columbia passed away on Friday, August 5, 2022, at Lenoir Healthcare.
Eugene was born on February 11, 1933, in Westfield, Wisconsin the son of Arthur Henry Buchholz and Bertha Alvina Erdman Buchholz. On November 9, 1957, he married Barbara Gee in Madison Wisconsin and she preceded him in death.
Eugene was a professor of Mechanical Engineering in the Mechanical Power Technology Department at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma and prior to Oklahoma State University, he was a professor at North Dakota State University in Fargo, North Dakota. Eugene was a very accomplished woodworker who enjoyed doing that his entire life. He was a member of Campus Lutheran Church in Columbia, where he and his wife Barbara were very involved. While residing Stillwater, Eugene and Barbara were members of Salem Lutheran Church. Eugene was an avid traveler who was always ready for a good trip. He was an avid Green Bay Packers and University of Wisconsin Badger football fan.
He will be greatly missed and forever remembered by one son, Steve Buchholz, and wife Marjorie of St. Charles; four grandchildren, Eleanor, Nathan, Gabriella, and Zachary; one sister, Dorothy Dee of Westfield, Wisconsin.
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Barbara; one son, Ken Buchholz; one infant son and an infant daughter; one brother, Robert Buchholz and one sister, Gladys Hoppe.
Private family services will be held at a later date in Westfield, Wisconsin.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Bach-Yager Funeral Chapel.
