John "JP" Paul Allen

John Paul Allen of Fulton, Missouri passed away August 26, 2026, at Monroe Manor in Paris, Missouri. John was born July 6, 1941, to John David and Paulline (Chappell) Allen in Columbia, Missouri. He grew up going to school at Deer Park Elementary and graduated from Hickman High School.

John married Marilyn Bennett in Columbia on September 23, 1967, and together, they had three children; Roderick, Erin Michelle, and Kristen. His biggest regret would be that he had wanted to make it to his and Marilyn's 59th wedding anniversary.

Besides farming, John owned and operated J.P. Allen Construction and built houses in Columbia for 45 years. He enjoyed supporting the Callaway 4-H Youth and Livestock programs. He had an excellent memory and loved telling stories about his time farming, his hunting adventures, his tractors, and the good times he had with friends and family during his many years. He was competitive at his core and loved playing sports, hunting trophy deer, arrowhead hunting, hanging with his buddies playing cards and watching online livestock auctions. He was a member of the Bible Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Allen; children, Roderick (Melanie) Allen, Erin Bailey, and Kristen (David) Moore; eight grandchildren, Vance (Mariah) Allen, Carlene (Dalton) Mettes, Makenna (Josh) Atkinson, Meredith Allen, Rachel and Adam Bailey, and Kaleigh and Clayton Moore; and four great-grandchildren, Payton and Kace Allen, Henry Atkinson, and Finnley Mettes. He was the youngest of five children and is survived by his sister Martha May (Bill) Kinman of Maryville, Missouri.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sister, Phoebe Braschler; and two brothers, Clarence Allen and J.D. Allen.

John's visitation will be Friday, August 28 from 5 p.m.- 7p.m. at Bach-Yager Funeral Chapel, 1610 N. Garth Ave, Columbia, Missouri 65202. A funeral service will be held at the Bible Baptist Church, 4275 E Broadway, Columbia, MO 65201, on Saturday, August 29 at 3 p.m. John will be laid to rest in the Millersburg Cemetery following the funeral.
