Julian R. Schumacher
1929 - 2022
 
Julian (Bud) Robert Schumacher, 92, of Boonville, Missouri passed away June 7, 2022. Bud was born on November 29, 1929 in St. Louis, Missouri to Julius and Marian Schumacher.  He graduated from Ritenour High School in 1947, and was employed in St. Louis until September 21, 1951 when he entered the Army.  He was stationed at Camp Roberts in California and later graduated from Airborne School at Fort Benning, Georgia.
 
After service, he attended University of Missouri-Columbia and received Bachelor of Science Degree in 1958.  While attending the University, he met and married Ruth M. Dittmer on August 14, 1955.
 
Upon graduation, he went to work for the Union Savings Bank in Sedalia, Missouri.  He entered the insurance business with MFA Insurance Company as underwriter and then as sales supervisor for MFA in Central Illinois.  Later he worked for Silvey Company, State Automobile and Casualty Underwriters as Missouri Sales Supervisor.  He was awarded Sales Supervisor of the year for State Auto in 1972.
 
In 1976 he and Ruth purchased the Kline Insurance Agency in Fayette, Missouri, Meyer Agency in Glasgow and changed the names to Town & Country Insurance Agencies.  Later he purchased Cox Agency in Salisbury and the Selck Agency in Boonville. He was active in the Missouri Independent Agents Association and was past Chairman of the Rural Agents Committee.  He served on the Board of Columbia Mutual from 1985 until 1997.
 
Bud and Ruth loved their family especially the Christmas holiday.  Bud also enjoyed playing golf and reading.
 
Bud & Ruth sold Agency in 1999 and moved to Boonville to be close to grandchildren. He is survived by daughters, Jul (Ernie) Eschrich and Jan (Cla) Stearns and grandchildren, Zac (Alana) Stearns and Becca (Jacob) Wilson, two great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife (Ruth), son (Joe Schumacher), his sister, Marjul Zimmer and brother, Bill Schumacher.
 
A private funeral, officiated by Masood Heidari, was held June 13, 2022 at Bach-Yager Funeral Chapel with close family members and friends present.  Burial followed at Memorial Park Cemetery in Columbia.  Memorial contributions can be made to First Christian Church, 301 4th St, Boonville, Missouri 65233.
