Micheal Mark Cotten, Sr.

Micheal Mark Cotten, Sr., age 47, of New Franklin passed away on July 24, 2026, at his home.

Micheal was born in Calhoun, Georgia on April 15, 1979, a son of the late Melvin Cotten, Sr. and Estelle Burgess Cotten.  Micheal was a self-employed carpenter and remodeler.  He enjoyed deer, dove and pheasant hunting, fishing, riding dirt bikes and spending time with his family who remembers his favorite places to eat – Long John Silvers, Arby’s and Cracker Barrell.

Micheal is remembered by his sons, Micheal Cotten, Jr. and Gabriel Cotten; brothers, Chris Cotten, Melvin Cotten Jr. (Laurel); sisters, Jenny Walters (Steve), Angela Furneaux (Hugh) and Wendy Burkhouse (Doug) and his nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Micheal was preceded in death by a niece, Laura Walters.

A memorial visitation honoring Micheal’s life will be held from 3:00 – 5:00 PM, Sunday, August 2, 2026, at Markland-Yager Funeral Home in New Franklin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the American Lung Association.
