Patricia Ann Hoehle, of Columbia, Missouri, died on May 1, 2026, following a brief illness at EverTrue Lenoir Woods. She was 97 years old.
Pat was born on January 12, 1929, to Naomi May Gage (nee Hervey) and Harold Ford Gage in St. Louis, Missouri. Her family lived in Webster Groves, Missouri until 1942 when they moved to a farm in Bellflower, Missouri. She graduated from Bellflower High School and attended the University of Missouri.
In 1947, she married Glenn D. “Budd” Sprague, and they had three children, Glenda, Patricia and Roger. The marriage lasted 13 years. In 1964, she moved with her children to Columbia, Missouri and was employed by the University of Missouri. Her secretarial career included positions at the campus and system levels.
While working at MU, she met Donald F. Hoehle. They were married in 1971. After 34 wonderful, happy years together, he predeceased her in 2005. A love of gardening, writing, art, music and animals resulted in a busy life. Pat was blessed with 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Pat is survived by her daughters, Glenda Sue Akers (Kevin Moore) of Allentown, Pennsylvania and Patricia Kay Sprague of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; her daughter-in-law Lori Sprague of Columbia, Missouri; and her sister, Betty Lou McClintock of High Point, North Carolina.
She was predeceased by her son, Roger W. Sprague; her brother, John Harold “Jack” Gage; her cousin, Pauline Henson (nee Hervey); great-granddaughter Magnolia Patricia Sweeney; and friend, Hardin “Wilkie” Wilkerson.
Services for Pat will be on Friday, May 8, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. at Epple Chapel located at EverTrue Lenoir Woods, 3710 Lenoir Street, Columbia, Missouri 65201 and a reception at 3:00 p.m. at EverTrue Lenoir Woods.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to Second Chance animal rescue of Columbia, Missouri.
