Al Taylor was my uncle, the brother of my father Al was a decorated war veteran from an earlier time when American men valued duty, honor and valor. After the war , Al came to Columbia to attend Mizzou where he met a man named Mr Sappington. (. If my memory serves correctly ). at church. Mr. Sappington offered Al a part time job getting the MFA Insurance Co.off the ground. Al must have liked the job because he stayed for more than 40 years. Al had married Marty more than 70 years ago near Smithville Missouri but once they came to Columbia,, they never left. My first recollection of coming to Columbia with my grandparents to see Al and Marty was along old Highway 40 which was a two lane Road that passed thru dozens of small towns and the trip from Nashua took nearly all day Al Taylor was an honorable man. A Christian man Married for more than 70 years to Marty, the love of his life. Alvin never shirked a duty to his country, his family or his community. I started to recount some personal kindnesses that uncle Al had done for me but it's just too hard to type through tears. Al, rest in peace until the resurrection You were good to all in all circumstances. RIP
