Barbara Louella Gibson

1956 – 2016

Barbara Louella Gibson, 59, of Higbee, passed away at her home on April 19, 2016.

Barbara was born June 8, 1956 in Poplar Bluff, a daughter of Ed and Hazel Barnett Asher.

In August of 1977 she married Jim Gibson in Fayette. He preceded her in death February 21, 1991.

Barbara was a Licensed Practical Nurse and was formerly employed with the Boonville Correctional Center, Fayette Caring Center, Keller Hospital, Moberly Caring Center and Boone Hosptial.  She enjoyed gardening, flowers, fishing, watching scary movies, diet Pepsi and especially enjoyed her grandchildren and family.  Her family remembers her as being generous to anyone in need.  She loved her canine companions Ruddy, Missy, Beard and Lacy.

Survivors include two sons, Nathan Gibson and wife, Jamie of Higbee and Shane Asher; a daughter, Shandra Lehenbauer of Boonville; three brothers, Ed Asher and wife, Davida of Columbia, Tim Asher and wife, Kannatha of Higbee, Joe Asher and wife, Lori of Centralia; two sisters, Sue Wilson and husband, J. R. of Moberly and Linda Head and husband, Mike of Higbee; seven grandchildren, Shawn, Trenton, Raven, Isiah, Caira, Ashley and Brittany and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Dolly Piatrowski.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 23 at Carr-Yager Funeral Home in Fayette.  Visitation will begin at noon on Saturday.

Interment will be at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Fayette.
