I will always have fond memories of Aunt Maxine. I am inspired by her enthusiasm and compassion and awed by her musical talent and creativity. One of my favorite memories is hearing Aunt Maxine tell the story of going back and forth to Radio Shack to get just the right electronic gadget to light up the eyes of a puppet she was making, and then using the internet to accomplish some of her tasks. I think my jaw had to picked up off the floor. I was in my mid-thirties at the time, and i thought, "my 80-year old Aunt knows more about eCommerce than I do! It was so delightful to get that insight into her personality, enthusiasm and zest for life. And then, she played a song on the piano....how much creativity and talent can one person have? Aunt Maxine was really special like that.
When I lived in Columbia, I was glad I had the opportunity to take my mom (Maurine Thomas Rush) to visit Uncle Wayne and Aunt Maxine. I know my mom cherished those visits with her brother and sister in-law, as did I, because I got to hear a story or two about their childhood and Grandma Thomas and the farm. It helped connect me to some family history, which was wonderful. Aunt Maxine was a beautiful person. I will remember her for her great hugs, her creativity and her indomitable spirit. May she rest in peace.

Love,
Lisa Richardson

My mom, Elsie Hardt, and I consider Sis Thomas one of our dearest friends. My mom always wears a wristwatch with the face sitting on the thumb side bone of her wrist; most people wear theirs with either the face on top of the wrist or palm side of the wrist. My mom wears hers at an angle if you will on her wrist. Any time Sis Thomas would visit with my mom and hold her hand for the many prayers she prayed over our family through the years, Sis Thomas would always adjust it to the top of my mom's wrist. We love you, Thimas family!

Our hearts go out to you with the passing of Sister Thomas. She was a shinning example of a Christrian woman for us all. We will miss her wonderful smile, but rejoice in her "promotion" ti Heaven. She'll be there to greet us!
